Welcome to my website, thank you for visiting.

My name is John Watt, I design and make glass beads in my small workshop for my own modest range of lampwork glass jewellery, and for jewellery makers and beaders around the world to use in their own fabulous projects. This website is a showcase for my work and for others who have used my beads in their own projects. You will also find sales pages to purchase my work directly and links to my current eBay bead auctions.

The various materials that have been used for beads in the design of jewellery are staggering. My inspiration is drawn mainly from the bead craft of the ancients. Romans, Egyptians, Byzantines, Celts and Vikings, and other more modern cultures. Like my love of creating Japanese Raku style beads, the origins of which go back a mere 200 or so years. Glass is an excellent media and one of the most enduring materials (along with Silver and Gold) in which fabulous jewellery has been created for thousands of years.

Almost every bead I make is slightly different, with subtle variations and unique character. I use modern equipment and techniques and only the finest Art Glass available. I strive to create excellent quality beads to a very high standard of finish, However I do enjoy the challenge of recreating the rustic look of many of the ancient beads I have seen in museums and here on the internet. Some of the designs I produce would not have looked out of place 2,000 years ago. Popular way back then and still popular today, for the simple reason of the great joy that can be found in owning a beautiful piece jewellery made from glass beads.

Each bead is made by me personally by hand using modern techniques in my own small workshop/studio. I make my beads from the finest quality (mostly Italian) art glass, they are NOT mass produced in a sweat shop, factory or production line from low grade or recycled glass.

All the beads I make are properly annealed for lasting strength in my digitally controlled bead kiln at over 500deg C, usually on an overnight cycle. When cool (around 8 or so hours later) I remove them from the stainless steel mandrels where they were formed and then personally hand finish each one with a diamond tipped tool to remove ALL traces bead release and any sharp edges from around the hole.

I personally prefer to use only the best quality products I can find. I do not wish to waste my or your time and money on beads or items of jewelry that will eventually and inevitably end up in the bin. My goal here is to produce the best possible beads I can for my own and others jewelry projects. My ambition is for these beads to be still around and admired many lifetimes later! Just like the beads made by the people of ancient times that archeologists often find at their dig sites.

I hope you will enjoy visiting this website and perhaps find a bead or two that would be useful in your own projects.

If you like what you see please do consider joining my mailing list. I make beads in relatively small quantities so stock is always limited. I send out updates to those on my mailing list when I have new beads/jewelry available for sale, both here and when I occasionally list items on eBay too.

All sales from this my website, are on a first come first served basis. So if you see an item you like please let me know as soon as possible. I initially mark as "Reserved" items prior to completing the sale, then mark as "Sold" when the transaction is complete and the beads are posted off to their new home.

All my beads (appart from seconds) come with a return if not delighted guarentee, which no one in the past 8 years since I started making lampwork beads has ever used. However I think it is important to make this staitment as I do wish to offer not only great beads but also a good and complete service to my customers. Anyway.... This covers the Purchse Price ONLY and NOT the initial postage or return postage. Sorry I cannot send out beads on approval, I just do not make or trade enough items to cover this. There is only me running this show and I am NOT a large concern with huge profits from overpriced goods to offset on paying into the Post Office coffers for returns. So please do make sure that you are happy with this prior to sending me a "Purchase Request".

I accept payment by PayPal, personal check or UK postal order. I can only accept payment from outside the UK through PayPal. Please see PayPal website for details of how to pay by credit card or to set up an account if you do not already have PayPal.

If you have any questions or would like to purchase an item please use the contact form to send me an email.

Silver Core Beades Project

I will have a small amount of Silver Core beads available soon in two hole sizes. Firstly beads with a hole size 4.6mm which are compatible for inclusion on many of the popular mass produced beading systems, such as "Pandora", "Troll", "Chamilia", "Biagi" etc....

I also produce some smaller diameter Silver core beads. These have holes of 3.0mm which are suitable to be strung in a more traditional way, rather than on the now standerdised mass market beading system with very large holes.

Beads with 6mm holes ready to have 4.6mm Silver cores fitted.

My aim with this, my new line of Silver core beads, is to produce some great looking beads to my own style/design and offer them at a reasonable cost. Should be a nice change to the same old designs that you see coming up over, and over, and over again....

Completed beads, some with larger 4.6mm and some with smaller 3.0mm diameter holes.

Please note: The cores I use are NOT Silver plated OR cheap white metal type glue in ends!!!

I only use .925 Sterling Silver insets that I personaly cut and custom fit to each bead individualy from a lengh of .925 Silver tubing purchased from a long established and well respected UK supplier of precious metals to the jewelry trade.

Some of my smaller 3.0mm diameter Silver core beads.

Like all my listings on this website the beads on offer will be in very limited numbers and are as such sold on a first come first served basis. So if you see a lot you like please do contact me and I will reserve them for you if they are still available. I rarely make beads to order but do produce more similar beads of any particular design that proves popular.

I will also be having a bit of a clear out, so will soon be offering some clearance lots on eBay as well.

Any comments, please do Email me with the contact form in the menue or  >>> Click Here

Best Wishes and Happy Beading:) John
